check the bottom of the page for a tutorial on imgburn
IMGBURN MUST BE USED TO BURN THE CD IF YOU DON'T USE IMGBURN TO BURN THE CD THERE IS A STRONG POSSIBILITY THAT THE CD WILL NOT BE BOOTABLE
once downloaded use img burn to burn iso to disk
- open img burn and select write image file to disk select the iso file you have downloaded and browse to the iso file next check the box that says verify then click the start button which is right here once you have done that it shouldn't be long before you can use the cd to boot your computer.
- once your done creating the cd you will need to boot from the disk you just created and it will come up with a screen that says "Windows Password Reset/Registry Editor/Boot CD" .on that screen just press enter and it will start decompressing.
- Once that is done look to the bottom of the screen it will list "Disks:" this shows what parts of your hard drive are available. When it says "Please select partition by number" you will need to look at the aforementioned list and check to see which disk has the largest number next to it.(* For example if you have a disk that says "1: /dev/sda1 128MB BOOT" and the next one in the list is "2: /dev/sda1 65533MB" then you will need to choose Number 2)
- once you have found the largest disk partition you will need to enter the corresponding number. (Lets say the number is 2) Type the appropriate number then press enter. (if it says dirty shutdown thats ok you will need to force it by typing "y" then press enter.)
- After that the very bottom of the screen it will ask you the path to the registry directory, just press enter. Then it will come up with "Select which part of registry to load, use predefined choices" you will type "1" which is password reset and press enter.
- then when it says "what to do" you will type "1" which is "Edit user data and passwords" and press enter. It will bring up a list of the users on the computer. You will need to look at that list and choose which password you want to reset. Once chosen type in the username exactly as it appears on the screen. Then press enter.
- It will then say "User Edit Menu:" you will need to type in "1" which is "Clear (blank) user password" and press enter
- after this your password is reset and you will need to type " ! " then press enter (the exclamation point is the quit command for this part)
- and after it goes back to the main part and gives options type in " q " press enter and it will exit
- when it says write files back you must type in " y " this is very important if you dont choose "y" then your password will not be reset.!!!!!!!
- It will say that you can try again if it somehow failed. It has never failed so just type in "n" and press enter
this will reset the password and you will be able to login now
- if you restart and it says disk needs to be checked for consistency let it check and complete the check
